This is a meeting you don’t want to miss. This is where we decide what gets planted at Soil&Water Garden this year. If you are the expert on some crazy variety of heirloom squash, we want to hear from you! Do you know more about tomatoes than anyone else? Come give us your advice! Know how to keep those darn squirrels out of the garden? We want to hear from you!
2018 Season wrapped
Soil&Water held over 68 workdays in 2018 (that right! 68)! That is a lot of gardening days in one year! Our events included cooking demonstrations, kid’s camps, and some DIY projects like salve made from beeswax and calendula oil. We wrapped up the year with a harvest festival.

Wednesday, June 20
We'll be harvesting potatoes and onions and cooking with them. We have two dishes planned to cook on site using our harvest. Please bring your best potato recipe to share. We know that you have a really yummy potato recipe or family recipe and we'd love to learn about it. If you bring a plate and fork/spoon and something to drink out of, it saves on garbage but it isn't necessary. And as always, bring a cloth bag to take home produce!
Saturday, June 23
Soil&Water rock painting and signage activity. We’ll have large stones that our kids (and grown kids) will paint to place throughout the garden. We'll provide the template and your creativity makes it awesome! This will also be an ongoing activity for the remainder of June a long with regular maintenance and planting melons.
Saturday, May 5
Soil&Water will participate for the second year in the One Seed, One Community program to save seeds for local seed banks (Mountain View Library). Hillie Salo will join us this Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 10-12pm and tour our bean planting site! We'll also be planting a few beds of the "Three sisters" companion crops (corn, beans and squash) and mulching strawberries to create a layer of protection from the pill bugs (rolly-poly bugs). Garden lead for the day: Sophie.
OCT 4, 2017 - chapstick making with infused calendula oil and beeswax from the resident bees.
OCT 11, 2017 - Last official garden workday this season! Diwali celebration potluck, calculate how many pounds of Petaluma gold rush beans we grew for donation to the seed bank.

We'll be reducing the garden for the winter and using the down time to build things - like a mini- greenhouse to start seeds, a tomato trellis, create signage for the garden, and other tools needed in the garden.
If you are interesting in helping out over the winter months, please join the new Urban Garden Winter Task Force. Contact us if you'd like to be added to a project.
Meetings will be held as needed to build things or gardening to maintain the winter garden. Regular garden workdays will return in February 2018.
